A grieving dog owner was left in tears after noticing that her baby son had a birthmark in almost the exact same place as a mark once seen on her late dog.
The woman, known as Wang, lives in China and had shared 12 years of her life with her beloved Samoyed, Reno. He had been with her through some of the biggest moments in her life, so losing him was devastating. Reno died after suffering from several serious health problems, including acute kidney failure, cancer and pancreatitis.
Just hours after saying goodbye to Reno, Wang and her partner received life changing news. They discovered they were expecting a baby. It was a bittersweet moment, because while they were still heartbroken over Reno, they also had a new little life to look forward to.
After their son was born, the couple still missed Reno deeply. Like many people who lose a much loved dog, they wished he could somehow have been part of their new family life. Then, as their baby grew, Wang noticed something unusual.
A grey birthmark started to appear on the baby’s left arm. At first it may have just looked like an ordinary mark, but as it became clearer, a friend pointed out something that stopped Wang in her tracks. Reno had once had a dark mark in the same area on his front left leg.
Before Reno died, he had licked one part of his leg so much that the fur came away. When the hair grew back, it returned darker than the rest of his coat, leaving a visible patch. To Wang, the similarity between that mark and her son’s birthmark felt incredibly emotional.
