Harness – Working not Walking !

One of the most frequently asked questions about huskies is, what type of harness is best for walking them ?

People see huskies in harness when pulling sleds or rigs so assume they also need to be walked in one.

This is simply not true.

Firstly if your husky is wearing a harness he/she will pull more. Hence why they wear harness for working.

Secondly with huskies being great escape artists, they can easily wriggle out of many walking harnesses or back out of them.

Alaskan Semi Slip Collar Northernwolf The best way to walk a husky with almost 100% security is with an Alaskan Semi Slip Collar. Designed for working dogs, the collars are tough, humane and reliable. The adjustment design uses the full strength of the web – no holes to rip out, no weak hardware or moving parts, no loose ends for puppies to chew. Once set, the adjustment locks into the web, and stays until reset. The rings are easy to hang onto, even with gloves. The hardware is solid, one piece or welded. These dog collars are stronger than leather or chain, easy on coats and skin, more secure than collars requiring buckles, and largely unaffected by extreme weather and hard work. With no buckles to give or break, and designed to be slipped over the head, these collars can endure tough pulling. Very popular with Siberian Husky and Alaskan Malamutes due to the strength and durability of the collar.

With the addition of a Walking Belt you can add several huskies to it and feel secure that you are not going to lose any of your dogs.

A Walking Belt also spreads the load of a pulling husky and frees your hands.

Walking Belts, leads and collars are available in our store.
