Star of Life Below Zero, Jessie Holmes, who is also a professional dog musher, not to mention my inspiration and friend, has been involved in an accident after he volunteered to help out with the aftermath of Typhoon Merbok, which hit Nome badly a few weeks ago.
Jessie’s injuries mean that he has to undergo emergency surgery and so has been flown to Anchorage for the procedure.
Money is being raised to help out with Jessie’s medical bills as he doesn’t have medical insurance.
Jessie also has broken bones and internal injuries.
Other mushers including Brent Sass, Jeff Deeter and Richie Beattie were also helping with the clear up.
